SCALA

Scala is the oldest town on the Amalfi Coast, known for its peaceful charm and rich history. Founded in the 4th century, Scala served as a key defensive settlement during the Middle Ages, protecting nearby Amalfi.
The town’s quiet streets are perfect for exploring, and its authentic atmosphere is a refreshing escape from the busier coastal towns.
One of Scala’s main attractions is the Duomo di San Lorenzo, a beautiful church built in the 12th century. Its elegant facade and peaceful interior are a reminder of the town’s religious heritage. Every August, Scala celebrates its patron saint, Saint Lawrence, with a traditional festival featuring music, parades, and fireworks.
Nearby, the ruins of Sant’Eustachio offer a glimpse into the town’s past. The setting is picturesque, surrounded by nature and perfect for a peaceful walk.
Scala is also a great base for hiking, with trails leading to nearby Ravello, Amalfi, Valle delle Ferriere, and the Hermitage of Santa Maria dei Monti, a mystical and evocative place surrounded by nature.
