Minori, known as the “City of Taste,” is a picturesque town renowned for its culinary traditions and rich history. Dating back to Roman times, the town is home to the Villa Romana Marittima, a 1st-century AD archaeological site featuring intricate mosaics, frescoes, and ancient thermal baths, offering a glimpse into the lavish Roman lifestyle.
The Basilica di Santa Trofimena, an 18th-century Baroque church, is dedicated to Minori’s patron saint, it houses her relics in an ornate crypt, making it a spiritual and cultural focal point. Nearby stands the Campanile dell’Annunziata, a striking medieval bell tower dating back to the 12th century. Originally part of the Church of Santa Maria Annunziata, which was demolished in 1950 due to structural issues, the campanile remains a testament to the town’s architectural heritage and its intricate design exemplifies the Arab-Norman influence prevalent in the region.
